After my previous experience I am hesitant now to try the unlock as she prefers to have a 4.1-Gevey-unlocked iPhone instead of a 5.1 iPod. I applied for my wife's iPhone as well and got the confirmation (again with an attachment like the pdf in the link). As my situation could only improve I tried restore again and this time it worked.
About a week later I received another email from ATT, this time from a different email address ( ), no attachment provided, but the same instructions in writing.
iPhone that could no longer be used as the Gevey SIM was for the 4.1 firmware. I restored my iPhone as described only to get the dreaded message that the inserted SIM was not supported. I applied for an ATT unlock and received a few days later a confirmation email that looked like this:
My wife and I each have an iPhone 4 that we used with Gevey SIMs for Version 4.1.
